Policies Regarding selling hedgehogs intended for breeding:
We do not sell hedgehogs intended for breeding to persons under the age of 21.
We do not sell to unlicensed breeders, period!
Once we have agreed to sell you breeding stock, you must select and put down a Non Refundable Deposit of 75.00 Per Hedgehog within 48 hours via Paypal, Check or Cash. Balance must be paid in full (including cost of vet, carrier, fees,flight fee,etc) 7 days before the shipping date again via Paypal, Check or Cash.
Requests to hold a hedgehog for a period of time beyond a week in an effort to coordinate shipping with other breeders will only be entertained if PAID IN FULL up front (at time of deposit).
We provide a one-generation pedigree with all of our pet hedgehogs, breeders will get a full pedigree (up to five generations, and/or what we have on the particular hedgehog), that will include the names and colors of all hedgehogs in the lineage.
Herd Initials of other breeders will not be present unless the hedgehog’s parents are registered with the IHR.
We do not sell hedgehogs intended for breeding to first time owners, nor do we sell mixed genders to any unlicensed individual.
If you require shipping, a minimum order of 3 hedgehogs will need to be placed, you can have other area breeders go in on the order with you to reduce the cost of shipping.
We choose our breeding stock on these factors:
Both Males and Females, must be healthy, have no known health issues, birth defects or serious conformation flaws.
We ideally try to choose hedgehogs with good form and balance and the desired "teardrop" shape as observed from above.
Babies considered for our breeding program must come from a mother who nurses her babies well without complications or baby growth delays.
We also pair mates by temperament to try and produce the most friendly and outgoing babies possible.
Coloration and Pattern come last once all other factors have been figured in, although we do have enough variety in our herd to reliably produce most colors and patterns.
While we strive for perfection in our breeding program, not all babies meet the standard, but make excellent pets. Other pet quality hedgehogs would be from litters that needed to be fostered, had slow growth, line-bred babies that did not meet expectations, or other factors not related to genetics.
Hedgehogs that pass on good health, temperament, conformation, and color are what we consider the ideal breeding hedgehog. This is what we look for when helping you to choose your potential breeding quality hedgehog from us.
To be eligible to purchase one of our babies as potential breeding stock, you must fill out the above application and also meet our requirements as fellow breeders.
While we realize that you can purchase a hedgehog as a pet from us with the intention to breed, please realize that you may be purchasing a less than ideal specimen that may not be a good producer, or may not have the most robust babies. This in turn can tarnish your reputation as a breeder. Doing so would also violate the NO BREEDING clause we have in our contract for all of our pet hedgehogs.
Breeder Pricing:
$50 added to the regular pet price of the hedgehog, this price includes:
Full Lineage – up to 5 generations
Multiple Photographs of the potential babies – both sides, top view, face close up, etc.
Shipping Fee - my time and expense – this does not include airfare, health certificate, shipping crate, taxes, etc.)
One Year Congenital Health Guarantee – free replacement hedgehog upon receipt of necropsy report, (shipping is at buyers expense) showing the hedgehog died of a congenital condition.
Health Tracking – we will notify you should any health concerns arise with any of the lines you have purchased.
